The Government’s planning proposals hit our television screens today which offered ourselves and CPRE the perfect opportunity to explain our opposition and dispel the myth that we are opposing ALL development.

Planning reforms prompt concern and confusion. Amid fears that planning changes could end up “concreting the countryside”, the planning minister tells Channel 4 News he will work with countryside campaigners, but says there will be no U-turn.

Consultation vow on planning reforms for England. The government has offered to hold talks with opponents of its planning reforms, following widespread criticism of the proposals by the National Trust and the Campaign for Rural England. But planning minister Greg Clark has denied he is considering a U-turn over controversial proposals to change the law to encourage more house building.

Editorial: The profit motive should not shape the country. “The coalition’s draft planning document fails to address too many pressing needs.”
